Before wearing the black robes of the Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall was known as "Mr. Civil Rights"—the nation’s most formidable legal warrior.
As the chief counsel for the NAACP, Marshall argued 32 cases before the Supreme Court and won 29 of them.
In 1967, President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed him as the first Black Supreme Court Justice, where he served for 24 years. Marshall didn't just interpret the law; he used it as a "shield of freedom" to protect the most vulnerable, ensuring that the promise of equality wasn't just words on paper, but a reality for every American
